Hi guys. Just a quick update.

Some of you guys may know who Phil Rice, aka Overman (Male Restroom Etiquette, Apology, Broken Obama) and Ricky Grove (Voice actor in the machinima Jill’s song, also had a role in Sam Raimi’s “Army of Darkness” film). Chances are, if you know them, you’re aware of their Overcast Machinima podcast. Anyway, to fill the gap for their podcast releases, they’ve asked a few of the machinima community members to submit ‘sideshows’ for them. I did one such sideshow on machinima maker’s beginners myths and Garrysmod/editing techniques. Check it out, it’s over 14 minutes long and if you want to hear a little more about me, some beginner tips, and some machinima moviemaking ideas/editing tricks specifically to Garrysmod and potentially all other engines too, check it out:

Enjoy! Also, today’s Wednesday..that means in 2-3 days..the 2008 Machinima Film Festival in NYC! I’ll be speaking on the Student panel at Eyebeam at 2:00 pm, and will pretty much be there most of Friday and Saturday. If you’re in the area, come check it out, it’s free. I’ll bring back plenty of pictures, hopefully. Soldiers of Misfortune, our Day of Defeat Source and Garrysmod 10 machinima, is now released! Check it out! See if you can pinpoint the Tarantino references.

SYNOPSIS: The flashback story of a U.S. Army Ranger (Xanatos) and his journey behind enemy German lines in Italy involving a fellow American soldier (STEV) and a British POW (WolfeR). Despite the trauma going on around him, he becomes in possession of an enemy truck which contains a cache full of diamonds while one German officer (played by Crackbone) is focused on retrieving them. Soldiers of Misfortune is an action/war machinima film created in the Valve Half-Life Source (Episode 2) Engine based-games Day of Defeat: Source (a world war 2 game in HL2′s engine) and Garrysmod 10 (a sandbox modification). It doubles as a homage to the films of the legendary director Quentin Tarantino, with fun references to Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Kill Bill along the way.

Soldiers of Misfortune, our 17-minute Day of Defeat Source and Garrysmod action machinima, is going to be released on Tuesday, October 21st. Finally! Took a hell of a long time to make, and should be one fun movie. Like HL2 Anxiety was for Alfred Hitchcock, this is a World War 2 movie that encorporates a lot of the trademarks from Quentin Tarantino and a few references here and there. The story is centered around a U.S. Army Ranger and his journey behind enemy German lines in Italy. Despite the trauma going on around him, he becomes in possession of an enemy truck which contains a cache full of diamonds while one german officer is focused on retrieval. Tons of people contributed to this movie, and so I’m very thankful for that and it really helped make this project more than possible. Coming Tuesday!

Hi everyone. Just a quick update in that our next machinima video, Soldiers of Misfortune, should be completed and released sometime in the week of October 12th. In it stars Xanatos, Stev, Crackbone, DMGaina, and WolfeR in a World War 2 setting, made in GMOD 10 and Day of Defeat Source. Be sure to expect it around/after then.

Next on the list is the Machinima Filmfest 2008

A combined, 20 minute version of Half-Life 2 Anxiety & Nightmare made it as a nomination for “Best Student Work”. I will be flying in on the 31st to attend in the Big Apple! Totally looking forward to it, I’ve never been anywhere like New York City. Also, I was asked in an email to be a part of one of the panels at the festival, come listen to me talk. And if you are in the NYC area, I would very much like to meet up!

Contact me or post a comment if you think you’re interested in that regard. The festival is taking place November 1st from 11 AM to after 8 PM. It’s located at the Eyebeam center for Art and Technology, 540 West 21st street, between 10th and 11th Ave in Manhattan. Some of the other attendees include the Lit Fuse team, Phil Rice (Male Restroom Etiquette), Paul Marino (Still Seeing Breen), I’ll be hanging around with Harrison “Nefarious Guy” Heller (Clockwork), and a hell of a lot of other Machinima luminaries will be there. No Smooth Few, though. Will take plenty of pictures.

Also there again are site updates. I do update the downloads area quite frequently, so keep checking those areas, with the Audio and Mp3 section now including some of the music heard in the Zombie Source Mod Todd video by Keaton.
